Working principle and features of 40G QSFP+ BIDI transceiver
May 10 , 202240G QSFP+ BIDI transceiver, through its two 20G signal channels, each channel can transmit and receive two wavelengths synchronously on one MMF (multimode fiber), OM3 transmission distance can reach 100m, OM4 transmission distance can reach 150m . Additionally, it can deploy and reassemble current 10G cabling systems to accommodate 40G network connections. That is, by using 10G cable equipment, you can get 40G data rate without using any other equipment.
Working principle:
Unlike ordinary 40G optical modules, 40G QSFP+ BIDI optical modules have the key electronic components of a WDM coupler, whose function is to combine and separate data on one optical fiber according to the wavelength of light. Processing in both directions on one fiber occurs at both ends of an MMF with duplex LC connectors, as shown in the following figure:
40G QSFP+ BIDI transceiver features:
1) 40G QSFP+ transceiver plus BIDI technology is a very high-performance transceiver, which is very necessary for servers and end users who need 40G Ethernet connections.
2) Compared with comparable transceivers with transmission lengths limited to less than 150m, higher cost-effectiveness is achieved with fewer fiber optic cables and patch panels, while saving space in the data center.
3) Compliant with the QSFP+ MSA specification, enabling customers to use it on all QSFP+ 40-Gbps platforms to implement high-density 40 Gb Ethernet networks.
4) Offer customers a compelling solution that enables them to reuse their existing 10 Gb duplex MMF infrastructure to migrate to 40 Gb Ethernet connectivity.
The 40G QSFP+ BIDI transceiver is the perfect solution for scenarios such as data centers that require short reach, limited fiber, and space-saving 40G connectivity operation. The deployment of 40G BIDI transceivers can increasingly expand the existing bandwidth capacity, which is conducive to promoting the economics and superiority of optical networks.
